Social and Environmental Policy

Social Responsibility

As a leader in natural health and wellbeing we have always taken an interest in social, environmental and conservation issues. We believe that as a responsible corporate citizen, we must adopt socially and environmentally sustainable practices relating to all aspects of our business.

As part of its social policy Melrose Health has a focus on wellness rather than sickness and believes it has a moral and social responsibility to provide safe and effective products that will enhance the health and well-being of the consumer.

We believe in Preventative Health, the process of making small regular decisions and taking positive action on health, diet, exercise and lifestyle. These actions give your body the best chance of remaining free from disease. Some research suggests that it may even be possible to reverse the damage already caused in some chronic diseases such as arthritis, asthma, cancer, diabetes, heart disease and stroke using the right methods of preventive health.

Melrose is dedicated to manufacturing beneficial products using the best ingredients, formulations and techniques available. Melrose and its employees do not initiate directly or indirectly any animal tests of its products or ingredients.

Melrose Health actively engages in and supports Fair Trade. Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect that seek greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers. Fair Trade organizations such as Melrose Health (backed by our consumers) are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade.

Melrose is dedicated to maintaining its long-standing reputation for honesty and integrity.

Environmental Sustainability

As a member of the Biological Farmers Association and Gene ethics, Melrose Health believes in Biological farming – biodynamic, GMO free and organic. All use innovative, non-chemical techniques for farming in harmony with the environment and providing nutrient rich, healthy soils from which healthy produce is grown.

We believe strongly that as a responsible corporate citizen, we must address the issues of environmentally sustainable practices relating to all aspects of our business, as environmental factors are critical contributors to human health.

New efficiencies in environmental practices bring benefits to our employees and the broader community. Melrose embraces the need for sustainable and environmentally sound business practices.

Melrose believes that organics and biodynamic is the smart way for keeping farming sustainable for the future - improving soil, encouraging wildlife and woodlands, keeping pollutants out of our land, air and waterways, preventing disease, and benefiting our health and way of life. Melrose Health holds ACO certification which ensures that our organic products and systems have the highest possible integrity.

As a signatory to the strengthened National Packaging Covenant we at Melrose Health are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our packaging, closing the recycling loop and developing economically viable and sustainable recycling systems. The Covenant also allows us to continue to build on the momentum created by previous actions and is something that we as an organisation are excited by.

Melrose’s’ environmental beliefs reflect the goals of the strengthened National Packaging Covenant and the Environmental Code of Practice for Packaging, challenging us to reach new levels of environmental excellence and leadership.

Changes to Melrose’s new product development procedures and internal education programs will result in the reconsideration of packaging for new products. All staff are now trained in workplace recycling.

At Melrose we use recyclable materials wherever possible in the production of our product and we ask our consumers to help us create a sustainable future by participating in local curbside recycling programs and recycling Melrose bottles, boxes and printed materials.
